Biography
Rae Pung is a Singaporean pianist lauded for her mesmerizing performances, pedagogy, and collaborative artistry. In 2024, she released her full-length album Piano Sonatas, along with several EPs featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist “Classical New Releases.” Her versatility and musical curiosity have led her to perform with orchestras worldwide, including the Danube Symphony Orchestra, Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra Budafok, Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Kharkiv, Orchestra of Music Makers, Philharmonic Orchestra at the University of Alicante, and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, among others. Her artistry has been featured in international media such as The Straits Times, Serenade Magazine, The Vale Magazine, Teen World of Arts, The Star, Ritmo Magazine, Murcia Today, ABC Australia, LianHe ZaoBao, and Bresciaoggi. Her recordings have also been broadcast on Symphony 92.4FM, Rádio Armazém, Berlin On Air, and Rádio Criativa10.
Rae has won numerous prizes, including those from the Nuova Coppa Pianisti, Val Tidone, Budapest International Chopin, Volodymyr Krainev, Horowitz, Jeune Chopin, Young Pianist of the North, Città di Barletta, Recondite Armonie, and the Piano Island Festival and Competition.
Her dedication to innovation and artistic collaboration extends beyond performance. Her original composition Tremolo for piano and strings was featured in PlayPark Singapore’s multimedia gaming experience, and she served on the jury of the 2025 Ars Nova International Music Competition, where she also led masterclasses.
Rae has studied with eminent pianists including Ingrid Fliter, Boris Petrushansky, Stanislav Ioudenitch, and Andrzej Jasinski, training at the Oberlin Conservatory, Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, and The Purcell School. She is currently preparing her second album for release in 2026.
With a passion to nurture Singapore’s classical music community, Rae is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Virtù d’Arte International Piano Competition & Festival 2026, proudly supported by Steinway Gallery Singapore.
