Biography
Antonio Di Cristofano earned his Piano Diploma in 1986 from the “L. Cherubini” Conservatory in Florence under Maestro Antonio Bacchelli, later refining his studies with Maestro Massimiliano Damerini. He has performed in major Italian venues such as Teatro Verdi (Florence), Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto), Teatro Bibiena (Mantua), Teatro Politeama (Palermo), and Sala Puccini (Milan), as well as in over thirty countries worldwide.
His international appearances include prestigious halls such as the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow), Dvořák and Smetana Halls (Prague), Enescu Festival (Bucharest), Grieg Festival (Norway), Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mexico City), Gasteig (Munich), Konzerthaus and Musikverein (Vienna), Carnegie Hall (New York), and Glenn Gould Studio (Toronto).
He has collaborated with conductors including Marin Alsop, Claudio Schulz, and Leopold Svarovsky, and performed with orchestras such as the Czech Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Kaerntner Sinfonieorchester, North Czech Philharmonic, Toronto Sinfonia, and recently the Orchestra della Scala di Milano. Following his acclaimed New York debut in 2006 at Weill Hall, he performed at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphony to great success, and later in Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Musikverein.
A sought-after pedagogue, Di Cristofano has given masterclasses at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Dubrovnik Academy, numerous American universities, and conservatories in Shanghai, Xiamen, Thessaloniki, Valencia, Sofia, and Vienna.
His discography includes several recordings for Velut Luna and Millenium, the latest titled Encores. He is frequently invited to serve on the juries of leading international piano competitions, including those in Madrid, Moscow, Valencia, Paris, Hong Kong, and Cleveland. A three-time recipient of the Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Fellow for Culture, he is Visiting Professor at the Xiamen Conservatory (China) and professor at the Orpheus Academy in Vienna. In 2018, he received Grosseto’s highest honor, the Golden Griffin.
